A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE PASSING OF MRS. BETTY LARR REDDICK NEDD OF BISHOPVILLE ON SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2005, AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Betty Larr Reddick Nedd who was called to the Lord on Sunday, September 25, 2005; and

Whereas, Mrs. Nedd was born January 22, 1919, the ninth child of the late Johnnie and Minnie Holloman Reddick. She was raised and educated in the Turkey Creek community of Lee County; and

Whereas, Mrs. Nedd was the loving wife of the late John Henry Nedd, Sr., with whom she created a wonderful life and family. They were blessed with four children, Tressie, Bettie, John, and Heyward; and

Whereas, throughout her life, Mrs. Nedd was an active member of Sandy Bluff United Methodist Church, where in numerous capacities she served her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ; and

Whereas, Mrs. Nedd also was active in her community as a member of the Sisters and Brothers of Job, Lodge 66, and she fed the hungry and housed many who sought shelter in her home; and

Whereas, as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, the people whose lives were fortunate enough to be touched by Mrs. Nedd will forever have her in their hearts; and

Whereas, the General Assembly extends its sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs. Betty Larr Reddick Nedd. She is survived by one daughter, Bettie N. Toney; two sisters, Mrs. Panzie Sweetenburg and Mrs. Annie M. McCaskill; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Eula Reddick and Mrs. Dorie Nedd; one brother-in-law, Mr. George Jones; five grandchildren, Celeste T. Bush, Anthony Nedd, Cornelius Nedd, Christopher W. Toney, and Jermaine Nedd; two adopted grandchildren, David Cooley and Linda Cooley, four great grandchildren, Tiffany and Maya Bush and Christopher and Mehki Toney; three adopted great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their sincere sorrow upon the passing of Mrs. Betty Larr Reddick Nedd of Bishopville on Sunday, September 25, 2005, and extend deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Nedd's daughter, Bettie N. Toney of Bishopville.
