A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND REVEREND JAMES W. NESBITT, PASTOR OF SHADY GROVE BAPTIST CHURCH IN PELZER, FOR HIS COMMITMENT TO THE CHURCH AND HIS DEDICATION TO ITS MINISTRY.

Whereas, James W. Nesbitt was born in Greer on January 26, 1957, to Lillie Nesbitt Wilkes and Calvin E. Nesbitt; and

Whereas, before graduating from South Carolina State University, Reverend Nesbitt married his high school sweetheart, Blondell Benson. The couple had three loving children, Ashley, Amberly, and Jay; and

Whereas, after graduation, Reverend Nesbitt began his first career as an insurance adjuster before he was called by the Lord; and

Whereas, licensed into the ministry on October 21, 1990, Reverend Nesbitt began his second career as an associate minister at Monks Grove Baptist Church in Spartanburg, where he was ordained on May 30, 1993; and

Whereas, Reverend Nesbitt's first pastoral calling was to Garrison Chapel Baptist Church in Tryon, North Carolina, where he was able to grow as an eloquent minister, charismatic leader, and servant to the Lord; and

Whereas, in February of 1998, Reverend Nesbitt joined Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pelzer as pastor, and, under his guidance, the church has grown both in programs and in membership; and

Whereas, the church has seen a sixty percent growth in attendance and a doubling of church finances during Reverend Nesbitt's first two years at Shady Grove. The church also has recently built a new sanctuary; and

Whereas, Reverend Nesbitt has targeted seniors, singles, married couples, and youth with interest in meeting the spiritual, physical, emotional, and Christian training needs of these groups and has initiated an active evangelism ministry in which individuals spread the good news of Jesus Christ to others; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to distinguish such outstanding citizens who minister to the people of South Carolina and extol Reverend James W. Nesbitt for his devotion to spreading the word of God. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Reverend James W. Nesbitt, Pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pelzer, for his commitment to the church and his dedication to its ministry.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend James W. Nesbitt, Pastor of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Pelzer.
