VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND SECTION 40-79-230, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO QUALIFICATIONS FOR LICENSURE TO ENGAGE IN AN ALARM SYSTEM BUSINESS, SO AS TO SPECIFY THE NATIONAL TRAINING COURSE REQUIREMENTS TO BE LICENSED TO ENGAGE IN THE BURGLAR ALARM BUSINESS OR THE FIRE ALARM BUSINESS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 40-79-230(B)(3) of the 1976 Code, as amended by Act 358 of 2002, is further amended to read:
"(3) depending on the profession, have a certificate of completion from the National Training School for Burglar Alarms by taking the Level 1 training course or have a certificate of completion from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies for Fire Alarms by taking the Level II training course (a) for burglar alarms, take the Level I training course and receive a certificate of completion from the National Training School; or
(b) for fire alarms, take the Level I training course and receive a certificate of completion from the National Training School or take the Level II training course and receive a certificate of completion from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies;"
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and applies to persons who apply for licensure to engage in the burglar alarm business or the fire alarm business on and after this act's effective date.
