A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE THE SILVER BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL NAVY JUNIOR RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING CORPS FOR ITS OUTSTANDING WIN OF THE 2006 NJROTC STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND FOR ITS IMPRESSIVE SECOND AND FIFTH PLACE WINS OF THE EAST COAST REGION AND NAVY NATIONALS, AND TO WISH THE TEAM MEMBERS AND THEIR INSTRUCTORS ALL THE BEST IN FUTURE COMPETITION.

Whereas, true excellence in Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (NJROTC) showmanship demands great strength, diligence, and follow-through; and

Whereas, members of the Silver Bluff NJROTC and their instructors, Chief Charles Neighbors and LCDR Ron Freeman, showed both fans and foes that the team was a force to be reckoned with, dominating the state competition; and

Whereas, the teams Unarmed Platoon, Unarmed Squad, Platoon Armed, and Squad Armed all took first place awards, the Color Guard took second place, and the Squad Exhibition and the Two Man Exhibition took third place awards, leading the team to place first overall; and

Whereas, the NJROTC went on to bring great pride to their school and State in advancing in subsequent competition to win the second place award for the East Coast Region and the fifth place award for the Navy Nationals; and

Whereas, the team was led by several dynamic student leaders, including Rachel Sims, Unarmed Drill Team Commander; Robert Nine, Armed Drill Team Commander; and Beau Yancy, Color Guard Commander; and

Whereas, integral to the team's success, other valuable team members included: Jeb Lindsay, Brandon Harris, Arik Furner, Michael Adams, Kevin Flowers, Christina Crews, Lee Hepner, Ryan Hall, Gene Moore, Van Ozan, Max Furner, Amanda Koontz, Phillip Stokes, Charles Durham, and Josh Martin; and

Whereas, it is with great pride that the House of Representatives recognizes the young people of the Silver Bluff NJROTC for their exceptional discipline and showmanship, and expects only to hear of further success from the team in future years. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor and recognize the Silver Bluff Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps for its outstanding win of the 2006 NJROTC State Championship and for its impressive second and fifth place wins of the East Coast Region and Navy Nationals, and wish the team members and their instructors all the best in future competition.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the team members, instructors, and school officials of the Silver Bluff High School Navy Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps.
