A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE AT THE DEATH OF LESTER C. GUEST OF GAFFNEY AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Lester C. Guest of Gaffney died on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at the age of eighty-eight; and

Whereas, Mr. Guest was a member and former Deacon of White Plains Baptist Church; and

Whereas, he was a Veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operation for over three years where he earned the rank of 1st Sergeant, was awarded the Bronze Star, and the Good Conduct Medal with clusters; and

Whereas, he was known for his love and dedication to all of his family, including his wife, Estelle Loftis Guest, his three daughters, Elaine Guest Fowler, Nancy Guest Hanley, and Jan Guest Middleton; his two sons, F. Lynn Guest and the late Lester Carlisle Sonny Guest, Jr.; and his eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren; and

Whereas, we want Mr. Guest's family and his many friends to know he is in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Mr. Lester C. Guest of Gaffney and extend sympathy to his family and his many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Guest.
