A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. VANCE MYERS OF LEXINGTON COUNTY AND TO CONVEY THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Mrs. Vance Myers, beloved wife of Lexington County Solicitor Donnie Myers; and

Whereas, strong-willed, intelligent, and charismatic, Vance and Donnie Myers made an extraordinary pair, as family members and close friends joked that Donnie, known for his resolve and tenacity, was a wilting flower around Vance; and

Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Myers' love affair began early, while they were undergraduates at the University of South Carolina. Though Mrs. Myers' father encouraged her to become a lawyer upon graduation, she steadfastly supported Mr. Myers throughout his legal education and earned a law degree herself years later, doing occasional work for her family and friends; and

Whereas, a loving and devoted wife and mother, Mrs. Myers remained strong throughout her son's crippling illness, mucopolysaccharidoses, that tragically took his life at the age of 29; and

Whereas, a fantastic dancer, Mrs. Myers loved to shag and even spent her final hours gliding across the floor, lighting up the room at the couple's favorite dance club; and

Whereas, generous with her time, energy, and resources in furtherance of causes that had affected her personally, Mrs. Myers supported the National Mucopolysaccharidoses Society and the American Diabetes Association; and

Whereas, the State of South Carolina sorely feels the loss of her cherished daughter, Mrs. Vance Myers, but her energy, grace, and confidence will live on for many years to come in the lives of those who knew her best. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Vance Myers of Lexington County and convey the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Donnie Myers.
