A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MR. TERRY MATTHEW MOORE OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY UPON HIS RETIREMENT AS DIRECTOR OF THE NORTHWEST RECREATION CENTER AND TO WISH HIM WELL IN ALL OF HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Mr. Terry Matthew Moore of Spartanburg County is the son of Mrs. Janie Ruth Moore and the late Matthew Moore, Jr.; and

Whereas, he is the dedicated father of his two children, Corley and Kyle; and

Whereas, Mr. Moore received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1977 from Western Carolina University; and

Whereas, in 1978 he became the Activity Director of the newly built Northwest Recreation Center, and over the next three years advanced to the positions of Athletic Director and Assistant Director; and

Whereas, in 1982 Mr. Moore became the youngest person ever named as director of a recreation center in the City of Spartanburg and the first recreation center director with a four-year degree in recreation from an accredited college or university; and

Whereas, under his leadership, Terry became the bridge builder between the citizens of the City of Spartanburg and the city's leaders with a special interest in offering responsible customer service and promoting community development; and

Whereas, under his direction, the Northwest Recreation Center and Terry Moore have become synonymous with each other; and

Whereas, he has dedicated his life to helping young people strive to be their best; and

Whereas, he is a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church, Robert Smalls Masonic Lodge # 133, and the Spartanburg Council for Community Empowerment; and

Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the General Assembly that Mr. Terry Matthew Moore will retire on May 19, 2006, as Director of the Northwest Recreation Center in the City of Spartanburg; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to recognize his accomplishments on this occasion. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Mr. Terry Matthew Moore of Spartanburg County on the occasion of his retirement as the Director of the Northwest Recreation Center and wish him well in all of his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Terry Matthew Moore.
