VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO CONGRATULATE THE SENECA HIGH SCHOOL LADY BOBCATS SOFTBALL TEAM OF OCONEE COUNTY ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE STATE AAA CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO RECOGNIZE THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, JESSICA BURKE, ON THEIR EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.
Whereas, the Seneca High School Lady Bobcats gave their traveling fans something to cheer about as they capped the 2006 season with a win against Darlington High School, taking the best-of-three series and securing their place as AAA State Champions; and
Whereas, the hard-fought victory was truly a team effort, and was won by a tremendous defensive outing that led to a 4-1 rout of the Lady Falcons; and
Whereas, sophomore pitcher Stephanie Mihaly had a phenomenal performance scattering only three hits and two walks to grab her twenty-first win while never losing faith in the defensive strength of the members of her senior-laden team, and their unique ability to work together as a cohesive unit; and
Whereas, this was the second state championship the school has won since 2001 and the third such title in the program's history; and
Whereas, Mihaly was named Western AAA Region Player of the Year for the second consecutive year and was joined on the All-Region team by fellow teammates Brooke Burton, Charlotte Rochester, Ana Mitchell, and Meredith Mitchell. Mihaly and Ana Mitchell were both named to the All-State team as well; and
Whereas, it is with great pride that the members of the General Assembly commend the members of the Seneca High School softball team for their incredible effort and dedication spent playing the game for the love for the sport, and recognize them as true models for all South Carolina student athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Seneca High School Lady Bobcats softball team of Oconee County on its impressive win of the State AAA Championship title, and recognize the players and their coach, Jessica Burke, for an exceptional season.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the players, coaches, and school officials of the Seneca High School softball team.
