TO CONGRATULATE MRS. SARAH E. BOWMAN OF THE TOWN OF IRMO WHO CELEBRATED HER EIGHTIETH BIRTHDAY ON MAY 12, 2006, AND TO WISH HER MANY MORE YEARS OF HEALTH, HAPPINESS, AND JOY.
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives were pleased to learn that Mrs. Sarah E. Bowman of the Town of Irmo celebrated her eightieth birthday on May 12, 2006; and
Whereas, Mrs. Sarah Bowman, affectionately known as "Irmo's (little) Superwoman" by her daughter Lorraine Bowman, is the only child of the late Phillip and Wilhemina Woodson; and
Whereas, she is a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School and Allen University; and
Whereas, a retired school teacher with twenty-two years of service in the field of education, Mrs. Bowman has taught in Harleyville, South Carolina and at Richlex High School. Before retiring in 1978, she taught at the John G. Richards School for Boys; and
Whereas, she is an active member of Youngs Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church in the Town of Irmo where she serves as secretary; and
Whereas, she was married to the late Mr. William L. Bowman, Sr., and together they raised three children. She is the proud grandmother of three grandchildren and has three great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, over the years she has remained active in the community in various capacities, which include serving as cafeteria monitor at Dutch Fork Elementary School and H. E. Corley Elementary School and a student mentor at Irmo Elementary School. In addition she has been an Okra Strut volunteer, serves as a member of the Town of Irmo Election Commission and is a member of the Board of Directors for Sharing God's Love; and
Whereas, it is with great pleasure that the members of the House of Representatives pause to reflect on the rich life of Mrs. Sarah E. Bowman and join her family and many friends who celebrated this milestone in her live. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives congratulate Mrs. Sarah E. Bowman of the Town of Irmo who celebrated her eightieth birthday on May 12, 2006, and wish her many more years of health, happiness, and joy.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Sarah E. Bowman.
