A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE, HONOR, AND COMMEND ATLANTA FALCON'S FULLBACK JUSTIN GRIFFITH FOR HIS GRACIOUS COMMITMENT AND COMMUNITY CONCERN FOCUSING AND TOUCHING THE LIVES OF YOUNG PEOPLE WHILE SERVING AS A POSITIVE ROLE MODEL, AND EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR SUCCESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, Justin Griffith is the son of the Reverend and Mrs. Lowery Griffith. He attended Magee High School in Mississippi, and was a USA Today All-American honorable mention rated as the second-best fullback in the Southeast by the Collegiate Football Experts recruiting service. He was named to the Orlando Sentinel All-Southern team adding All-State honors twice, as he led his team to the Class 3A state title as a senior; and

Whereas, at Mississippi State, Mr. Griffith caught 85 passes for 937 yards with four touchdowns, and added 852 yards and ten scores on 213 carries. He was an All-Southeastern Conference first-team choice by The NFL Draft Report as a senior, leading the team with a career-high 471 yards on 91 carries with a pair of touchdowns, and 19 receptions for 199 yards; and

Whereas, his excellence also extended to the classroom where he earned Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll accolades; and

Whereas, in 2003 Mr. Griffith became the first Atlanta Falcons rookie to start on opening day since Kynan Forney in 2001, edging George Layne in training camp for the starting fullback position; and

Whereas, a gracious and humble professional, Mr. Griffith gives of his time speaking at Christian youth group functions and making visits to the sick and shut-ins; and

Whereas, his commitment to make a difference is further evidenced by his mentoring of disadvantaged youths and speaking engagements through the Center for Educational Equity in Greenville; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are proud to recognize Mr. Griffith for the hard work and dedication he so freely gives to improve the community. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, hereby recognize, honor, and commend Atlanta Falcon's Fullback Justin Griffith for his gracious commitment and community concern focusing and touching the lives of young people while serving as a positive role model, and extend best wishes for success in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Atlanta Falcon's Fullback Justin Griffith.
