A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE FRANK ADAMS OF GADSDEN FOR BEING NAMED SOUTH CAROLINA'S 2005 STATE HANDWRITING CHAMPION IN THE NATIONAL HANDWRITING CONTEST.

Whereas, Frank Adams, a second grader at Gadsden Elementary School, won the National Handwriting Contest sponsored by Zaner-Bloser Educational Publishers; and

Whereas, Frank will go on to compete against state winners nationwide for the title of National Champion, selected for each grade level, with a further Grand National Champion chosen from among those winners; and

Whereas, Zaner-Bloser, the leading publisher of handwriting materials, has sponsored the National Championship Contest to emphasize the importance of developing good handwriting skills; and this year Frank Adams was one of more than 140,000 students who participated in the contest nationwide; and

Whereas, as a state champion, in addition to competing in Nationals, Frank will receive a beautifully engraved wooden pen, a special award certificate, and a fifty dollar gift certificate for Zaner-Bloser learning materials; and

Whereas, if Frank wins the Grand National he will receive more than fifteen hundred dollars worth of prizes, and his classroom will receive a computer with handwriting software; and

Whereas, Second Grader Frank Adams, through his victory in the state competition, brings great credit upon his family and State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, The House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, honor the accomplishments of Frank Adams and commend him on being chosen as the South Carolina Handwriting Champion.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adams.
