AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-140, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF VOTING PRECINCTS IN CHARLESTON COUNTY, SO AS TO REVISE AND RENAME CERTAIN VOTING PRECINCTS OF CHARLESTON COUNTY AND REDESIGNATE A MAP NUMBER FOR THE MAP ON WHICH LINES OF THESE PRECINCTS ARE DELINEATED AND MAINTAINED BY THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH AND STATISTICS OF THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD, AND TO CORRECT ARCHAIC REFERENCES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Voting precincts, Charleston County revised and renamed map designation changed

SECTION    1.    Section 7-7-140 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 329 of 2000, is further amended to read:

"Section 7-7-140.    (A)    In Charleston County there are the following precincts:

(B)    The precinct lines defining the above precincts in Charleston County are as shown on the official map of the United States Census Bureau designated as P-19-05 on file with the Office of Research and Statistics of the State Budget and Control Board. The Office of Research and Statistics shall provide revised copies of maps of the above precincts defining precinct changes incorporated pursuant to this section to the Board of Elections and Voter Registration of Charleston County by the Office of Research and Statistics.

(C)    The Charleston County Election Commission shall designate the polling place in each precinct."

Time effective

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Ratified the 31st day of January, 2006.

Approved the 3rd day of February, 2006.
