A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MRS. JACQUELINE G. JENKINS, DIRECTOR OF THE DORCHESTER COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES FOR A DISTINGUISHED CAREER OF PUBLIC SERVICE ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT, AND TO EXTEND TO HER EVERY BEST WISH FOR A HAPPY AND ENJOYABLE RETIREMENT.

Whereas, providing service to the citizens of Dorchester County and ensuring the safety and well being of children have been the hallmarks of Mrs. Jacqueline G. Jenkins' life; and

Whereas, Mrs. Jenkins is a long-time resident of Dorchester County where she resides with her husband Mr. Kenneth Jenkins, and she is the proud mother of one son, Kenneth; and

Whereas, Mrs. Jenkins is a graduate of South Carolina State University, received credentials as a certified trainer from the University of Tennessee, completed management and leadership training at both Duke University and Philip Crosby Management College in Orlando, Florida, and is employed as Director of the Dorchester County Department of Social Services; and

Whereas, her past and present community involvement includes: Coordinator of the Dorchester County Disaster Response/Recovery Services; Honorary Commander of the United States Air Force (Charleston Base); Summerville Rotary Club Board Member; Trident United Way Board Member; Salvation Army Board Member; Red Cross Board Member; Goodwill Industries, Inc. Board Member; YWCA of Greater Charleston Board Member; and Summerville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority, Incorporated; and

Whereas, Mrs. Jenkins has been honored by the Charleston Post and Courier in its High Profile segment; and

Whereas, she is an active member of St. Mark United Methodist Church where she serves on the United Methodist Superintendent Committee, is an instructor with the South Carolina Methodist Church Lay Ministry School, and is the Associate Director of the Walterboro District of the South Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church Lay Ministry School; and

Whereas, it has come to the attention of the members of the General Assembly that Mrs. Jenkins is retiring as Director of the Dorchester County Department of Social Services after a long career of dedicated service to the people of her community and the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, it is fitting and proper for the members of the General Assembly to recognize her accomplishments on this wonderful occasion. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend Mrs. Jacqueline G. Jenkins, Director of the Dorchester County Department of Social Services for a distinguished career of public service on the occasion of her retirement, and to extend to her every best wish for a happy and enjoyable retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Jacqueline G. Jenkins.
