TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE JOHNNY C. ALLEN UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT AS HORRY COUNTY TREASURER AFTER TWENTY YEARS OF SERVICE AND TO WISH HIM BEST OF LUCK IN ALL FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, a native of Horry County, Johnny C. Allen has unselfishly served the people of Horry for twenty-nine years; and
Whereas, he began working in the Horry County Treasurer's Office in 1976 and was elected Treasurer in 1985 where he has served in this position for twenty years; and
Whereas, when Mr. Allen took office, there was one office with twelve employees and a tax roll of $9,700. He has seen much growth over the years and now, in 2005, there are five offices, thirty-nine employees, and a tax roll of $360,000,000; and
Whereas, over the years he has served on many boards and associations, received numerous awards for his public service, and is currently serving as chairman of the Waccamaw Regional Planning Commission; and
Whereas, he and his wife Rachel are active members of Jamestown Baptist church, where he is a member of the choir and serves on the steering committee. They are the proud parents of three sons, and doting grandparents to three grandsons; and
Whereas, Mr. Allen will retire on June 30, 2005 and we in the Senate would like to express our gratitude for his many years of public service to Horry County and wish him well in his retirement. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, honor and recognize Johnny C. Allen upon the occasion of his retirement as Horry County Treasurer after twenty years of service and wish him best of luck in all future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Johnny C. Allen of Horry County.
