A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 27-47-630 SO AS TO PROVIDE FOR NOTICE AND COMPENSATION FOR MOVING COSTS TO A RESIDENT OF A MANUFACTURED HOME PARK WHO MUST RELOCATE BECAUSE OF THE SALE OF THE PARK BY THE OWNER.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 7, Chapter 47, Title 27 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 27-47-630.    (A)    The owner of a manufactured home park who requires his residents to relocate because the park is sold shall:

(1)    post a notice in a conspicuous place at the park at least ninety days before the relocation is required; and

(2)    compensate the resident who owns a registered singlewide manufactured home in the amount of one thousand five hundred dollars and the resident who owns a registered doublewide manufactured home in the amount of two thousand five hundred dollars for moving costs associated with the relocation.

(B)    The owner of a manufactured home park who requires his residents to relocate because the park is sold is not otherwise responsible for the physical relocation of his residents."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
