VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 7-3-70 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE STATE ELECTION COMMISSION TO NOTIFY BY MAIL A REGISTERED VOTER WHO DID NOT VOTE IN THE PREVIOUS GENERAL ELECTION WHEN AND WHERE THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTION WILL BE CONDUCTED AND THE LIST OF CANDIDATES FOR WHICH HE WILL BE VOTING.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Title 7 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 7-3-70. At least twenty-one days before the general election, the State Election Commission shall notify by mail a registered elector who did not vote in the previous general election when and where the next election will be conducted. A list of candidates for whom the elector will be voting must be included in the notification."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
