A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE JOANNA LIONS CLUB ON THE OCCASION OF ITS FIFTIETH ANNIVERSARY ON JANUARY 12, 2006 AND TO EXTEND BEST WISHES FOR THE FUTURE AND SINCEREST THANKS TO THE CLUB AND IT'S MEMBERS FOR THEIR CONTINUED GOOD WORKS.

Whereas, the Joanna Lions Club was chartered January 12, 1956 with twenty-nine members and the membership has grown to the current total of fifty-one dedicated members; and

Whereas, the Joanna Lions Club continues its mission of creating and fostering a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation; and

Whereas, for the past fifty years the club has answered the call of the motto, "We Serve," by tirelessly volunteering and dedicating its service to the humanitarian needs of the residents of Joanna; and

Whereas, while focusing on the needs of the children of Joanna and surrounding communities, the Joanna Lions Club is actively meeting the vision and serving the needs of the people of Joanna, of the State, of the nation, and of the world; and

Whereas, everyday the Joanna Lions Club strives to carry forth the vision of Lions Club International founder Melvin Jones and rise up to the challenge of Helen Keller in being the "Knights of the Blind." Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate the Joanna Lions Club on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary and extend best wishes for the future and sincerest thanks to the club and it's members for their continued good works.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Joanna Lions Club.
