To whom was referred a Concurrent Resolution (H. 3123) to acknowledge the importance of beach music to the citizens of South Carolina and the fun and entertainment it provides, and to proclaim April 13, 2005, etc., respectfully
Has polled the Concurrent Resolution out majority favorable.
TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE IMPORTANCE OF BEACH MUSIC TO THE CITIZENS OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND THE FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT IT PROVIDES, AND TO PROCLAIM APRIL 13, 2005, AS "BEACH MUSIC DAY" IN SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, as the official popular music of South Carolina, "Beach Music" attracts fans from across generations; and
Whereas, the Palmetto State boasts a long, proud tradition of local artists and a growing population of beach music fans who share in their common commitment to promoting the continued development of his unique art form; and
Whereas, residents and visitors of the South Carolina coast come together to enjoy the sounds of beach music, while participating in local dance competitions and festivals that offer fun and entertainment for the whole family; and
Whereas, the 2005 observance of "Beach Music Day" on April 13, 2005, provides an opportunity for the citizens of the Palmetto State to celebrate beach music's international prominence and South Carolina's role as leader in its continued growth in popularity; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, do hereby proclaim April 13, 2005, as "Beach Music Day" throughout the State and encourage all South Carolinians to join in celebrating this unique art form that brings enjoyment to fans throughout South Carolina and around the world. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly acknowledge the importance of beach music to the citizens of South Carolina and the fun and entertainment it provides, and proclaim April 13, 2005, as "Beach Music Day" in South Carolina.
