A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE AND COMMEND THE SUMMERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL "GREEN WAVE" 2004 WRESTLING TEAM AND HEAD COACH KENNETH WALKER AND HIS FINE STAFF FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING WIN CAPTURING THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE CLASS AAAA WRESTLING COMPETITION ON FEBRUARY 26, 2005.

Whereas, to achieve championship status is difficult to attain; and

Whereas, it is probably tougher to remain at that level year after year; and

Whereas, to create a dynasty in one sport takes sacrifice, determination, and leadership from the team and its coaching staff; and

Whereas, the Summerville High School "Green Wave" of Dorchester County dominated the AAAA meet with a contingent of twelve wrestlers, with seven wrestlers in the finals; and

Whereas, three "Green Wave" wrestlers, Tony Simmons, Bryant Blanton, and Khalif Chavis won individual state titles; and

Whereas, in winning the AAAA title over Battery Creek, Summerville won their fourth state title in the last five years; and

Whereas, the members of this championship team include Tavis Ancrum, Joey Bivens, Bryant Blanton, Tanner Brooks, Khalif Chavis, Brian Clouser, Tyler Collier, Van Collins, Andre Deweese, Jon Duran, Deron Ellington, Greg Felder, Wil Fitchett, Brian Frey, James Gibson, Eddie Gray, Cory Grooms, T. J. Hall, Reggie Henry, Christian Johnson, Dashawn Johnson, Chris Jones, Harland Leach, Mitch Linhart, Thurston Linning, Greg Matricciano, Jon Montjoy, Derek Nelson, Berlin Oliver, James Randall, Troy Riley, Travis Rosche, Joe Shakibanasab, Tony Simmons, Tommie Sizemore, Richard Spain, Mike Stanley, Caleb Strickland, Remington Swain, Willie Thomas, and Lance Wactor; and

Whereas, Head Coach Kenneth Walker should be proud of his young warriors in attracting attention to the school and Dorchester County citizens by achieving this championship status. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate and commend the members of the Summerville High School "Green Wave" 2004 wrestling team and Head Coach Kenneth Walker and his fine staff for their outstanding win capturing the State Championship in the Class AAAA wrestling competition on February 26, 2005.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Summerville High School "Green Wave" 2004 wrestling team.
