RECOGNIZING THE PINEWOOD PREPARATORY SCHOOL PANTHERS OF SUMMERVILLE AND COACH MARK ENSLEY ON THEIR SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ASSOCIATION (SCISA) SPEED AND STRENGTH STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, the Pinewood Preparatory School Speed and Strength Team put together two individual championships and strong efforts from other members to amass 382 points in taking the 2005 SCISA Speed and Strength team title; and
Whereas, more than seventy-five schools competed in the six individual events comprising the speed and strength test: vertical jump, pro shuttle, 40-yard dash, power clean, squat, and bench press; and
Whereas, the top six finishers in each event earned points individually and for their teams; and
Whereas, Hunter Smith and Matt Moore took the individual titles in the 161-170 pound weight class and 191-205 pound weight class, respectively; and
Whereas, nine more members of the team earned points in their categories, making the Speed and Strength Championship a true team effort; and
Whereas, four-year Head Coach Mark Ensley and new assistant Travis Mays attribute the 2005 team title to four years of dedication and hard work, with an emphasis this season on technique; and
Whereas, these athletes are truly representative of the importance of each athlete's contribution to the success of a season. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize the Pinewood Preparatory School Panthers of Summerville and Coach Mark Ensley on their South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) Speed and Strength State Championship.
