A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR STEFAN SHEALY, SOPHOMORE AT SPARTANBURG'S BROOME HIGH SCHOOL, FOR HIS ATHLETIC PROWESS AS A CROSS-COUNTRY STAR, TO CONGRATULATE HIM FOR HIS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO EXTEND TO HIM THE BEST IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, sophomore Stefan Shealy brought great pride to his family, school, and team by capturing first place in the A/AA State Cross-Country Championships on November 4, 2005; and

Whereas, running the 5000 meter course in record time, he finished the race with a time of 16:14; and

Whereas, earning the region championship for the second consecutive year, he was also named the Spartanburg Herald-Journal Runner of the Year for the second year in a row; and

Whereas, Stefan made Broome High School Cross-Country history by becoming the school's first-ever state champion; and

Whereas, Stefan will surely continue to achieve amazing accomplishments in his remaining years as a high school athlete, and the members of the General Assembly are eager to hear of further achievements in the future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Stefan Shealy, sophomore at Spartanburg's Broome High School, for his athletic prowess as a cross-country star, congratulate him for his impressive win of the State Championship Title, and extend to him the best in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Stefan Shealy.
