A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

HONORING THE 1935 CHESTERFIELD COUNTY RUBY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATING CLASS, AS THEY CELEBRATE THEIR SEVENTIETH HIGH SCHOOL REUNION ON SATURDAY, APRIL 16, 2005.

Whereas, in 1935, Ruby High School in Ruby, South Carolina graduated twenty-six seniors, and eight members of that class are alive today; and

Whereas, members of the class of 1935, as children of the Great Depression, grew up in rural Chesterfield County picking cotton and growing their own food, many living a life of hardship, but one that forged a strong work ethic and great integrity, enriching their lives immensely; and

Whereas, the first reunion for the class of 1935 was held 43 years after graduation, and the class has met yearly since then; and

Whereas, this reunion Saturday, April 16, will be an opportunity to honor the beloved eighteen members of the class who have passed on and to enjoy the fellowship of those remaining. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, honor the 1935 Chesterfield County Ruby High School Graduating Class, as they celebrate their seventieth high school reunion on Saturday, April 16, 2005.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be provided to class chairperson, Mrs. Ruth Baxley.
