TO COMMEND THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS FOR THIRTY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF OUR STATE.
Whereas, for thirty years the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs has strived to protect the interest of South Carolina consumers while promoting programs by both the public and private sector; and
Whereas, the department has encouraged dialogue between consumers, businesses, and governments while broadening the scope of consumer awareness; and
Whereas, consumer protection efforts by the department have already helped thousands of South Carolina consumers and others to improve their lives by enhancing their ability to make informed choices among services, goods, and sellers and avoid fraudulent and deceptive practices; and
Whereas, the Department of Consumer Affairs has made an effort to ensure that consumers have certain rights including the right to safety, information, choice, education, and to be heard; and
Whereas, the Department of Consumer Affairs has helped consumers play a powerful role in the economy since collective and individual choices help shape the direction, growth, and quality of business, education, finance, health, and environment; and
Whereas, today as the global marketplace presents our citizens with great challenges and exciting opportunities, the mission of the Department of Consumer Affairs is even more vital to South Carolina's continued success. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate commend the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs for thirty years of outstanding service to the citizens of our State.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the South Carolina Department of Consumer Affairs.
