The Senate assembled at 12:00 Noon, the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:

Beloved, one of my favorite renderings of scripture is Phillip's translation of St. Luke (1:78). We read:

"Because the heart of God is full of mercy toward us, the Light of Heaven shall come to visit us."

Let us pray.

O God, most holy, who dwells in eternity, but who lives in our hearts by faith: Help us as we confront the visible world with all its problems to draw strength and guidance from each other and from the invisible world of the Spirit.

Father, we pray for Your Special Blessing upon Senator WES HAYES, his family and multitude of friends in the shock, and the burden of disease in their son, Creighton Hayes, a 19-year-old student attending Wofford University. Creighton has amazing promise for leadership and achievement ahead of him on this earth! Have mercy and keep them in the palm of Your Hand! Spirit of God descend on us we pray!
Amen!

The PRESIDENT called for Petitions, Memorials, Presentments of Grand Juries and such like papers.
