S. 426 (Word version) -- Senator Land: A BILL TO AMEND ACT 355 OF 2004, RELATING TO THE CLARENDON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS' PROPERTY TAX RELIEF ACT, AND THE ONE PERCENT SALES TAX AUTHORIZED TO BE IMPOSED IN CLARENDON COUNTY FOR SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION, SO AS TO DELETE THE EXEMPTION ALLOWED IN THE CLARENDON COUNTY SALES AND USE TAX FOR FOOD WHICH MAY BE PURCHASED WITH UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE FOOD COUPONS.

S. 583 (Word version) -- Senators J. Verne Smith and Hutto: A JOINT RESOLUTION TO EXTEND BY ONE ADDITIONAL PROPERTY TAX YEAR THE PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION ALLOWED FOR PROPERTY NOT OWNED BY BUT WHICH IS USED EXCLUSIVELY BY THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA OR THE GIRL SCOUTS OF AMERICA.

On motion of Senators LEVENTIS and LAND, with unanimous consent, the Senate stood adjourned out of respect to the memory of Mr. Bobby J. Geddings, Sr. of Sumter, S.C. Bobby Joseph Geddings, Sr., 62, husband of Loretta Hodge Geddings, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at his home in Sumter.
Born Sept. 30, 1942, in Sumter County, he was a son of the late Clifton and Beatrice Barkley Geddings Peebles. He was retired owner and operator of Bob's Appliance Service in Sumter and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He served as a volunteer fireman for the Bethel 13 Fire Department.
Surviving besides his wife of Sumter are a son, Bobby Joseph "Joey" Geddings, Jr., and his wife, Tammy, of Sumter; a daughter, Lisa G. Powalie, and her husband, Jimmy, of Myrtle Beach; five brothers, Clifton Geddings of Augusta, Ga., Phil Geddings and Tommy Geddings of Sumter, Jerry Geddings and David Geddings of Cumming, Ga.; a sister, Betty Moore of Alpharetta, Ga.; three grandchildren, Abbie Geddings, Nicholas Powalie and Kyle Powalie; a godson, Jamie Hodge.
His loving dedication to his family and his community will be missed.
At 11:09 A.M., on motion of Senator COURSON, the Senate adjourned to meet next Tuesday, March 8, 2005, at 12:00 Noon.
