The Senate assembled at 2:00 P.M., the hour to which it stood adjourned, and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.
A quorum being present, the proceedings were opened with a devotion by the Chaplain as follows:
Beloved, the first time the word "peace" is used in the Bible is Genesis 34:21:
"And Hamor and Shechem his son, came to the gate of the city; and spoke with the men of their city, saying, 'These men are at peace with us. Therefore, let them dwell in the land and trade in it...'."
Let us pray.
Father, that first use of the word "peace" represents an economic and trade relationship between men and then moves to theology where both find their permanent relationship with God.
Make us humble students of mankind's relation to each other and their God! Lord, help us to be citizens of Your peace and Your Kingdom of Love!
Amen!
