A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE CONGREGATION OF SOUTH AIKEN CHURCH OF GOD ON THEIR LONG HISTORY OF SERVICE TO THE AIKEN COMMUNITY AND THE DEDICATION OF THEIR NEW SANCTUARY

Whereas, South Aiken Church of God organized in 1951 as the Hampton Avenue Church of God; and

Whereas, in January 1978 a new church was built and dedicated as South Aiken Church of God; and

Whereas, a new sanctuary was completed in December 2007; and

Whereas, South Aiken Church of God will dedicate their new sanctuary on February 3, 2008; and

Whereas, South Aiken Church of God has always been a very strong mission-minded church supporting foreign, state, and local missions; and

Whereas, Pastor Fox and South Aiken Church of God were founding fathers for the Christ Central Mission program; and

Whereas, the mission of South Aiken Church of God is "To go to heaven and take with us as many as possible"; and

Whereas, the vision of South Aiken Church of God is "Growing in grace and fulfilling the mission". Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, join the congregation of South Aiken Church of God in thanks for its new sanctuary and long history of service to the Aiken community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to South Aiken Church of God.
