TO CONGRATULATE MRS. MICHELLE WILSON FOR BEING NAMED 2008 SOUTH CAROLINA ELEMENTARY DISTINGUISHED PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR, AND TO THANK HER FOR HER TIRELESS DEDICATION IN MAKING ST. JAMES-GAILLARD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL A SOURCE OF PRIDE TO HER DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY.
Whereas, Mrs. Michelle Wilson, of Orangeburg County Consolidated School District Three's St. James-Gaillard Elementary School, was named 2008 South Carolina Elementary Distinguished Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators; and
Whereas, she will compete for national honors as South Carolina Elementary Distinguished Principal of the Year with the National Association of Elementary School Principals this spring; and
Whereas, for more than sixteen years, Mrs. Wilson has been an administrator in South Carolina, having served for the past nine years as principal of St. James-Gaillard Elementary School; and
Whereas, under her tenure, St. James-Gaillard has met the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) every year and has been recognized by the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee for student achievement. Her school has also received the Dispelling the Myth Award for excellence in performance of high-poverty students; and
Whereas, recognizing Mrs. Wilson's high level of commitment and merit, David Longshore, Orangeburg District Three Superintendent, said the school's accomplishments were possible because of Mrs. Wilson's guidance and innovative programs; and
Whereas, this exemplary principal credits St. James-Gaillard Elementary School's students, staff, parents, and community for the school's success; and
Whereas, the Senate, taking great pleasure in commending those who labor selflessly for the welfare of this great State's youth, is proud to recognize Michelle Wilson as one of South Carolina's choice educators and to congratulate her on this, her most recent honor. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Mrs. Michelle Wilson for being named 2008 South Carolina Elementary Distinguished Principal of the Year, and thank her for her tireless dedication in making St. James-Gaillard Elementary School a source of pride to her district and community.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Michelle Wilson.
