VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING THE JAMES ISLAND CHRISTIAN SCHOOL LADY LIONS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2006 SCISA A-AA STATE SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE.
Whereas, on May 13, 2006, James Island Christian School's Lady Lions capped their season by winning the Class A-AA girls' state soccer championship, defeating a fine Beaufort Academy team 3-1 in the finals held at Columbia's Heathwood Hall Stadium; and
Whereas, exhibiting teamwork, dedication, tenacity, and ability, James Island achieved this crowning victory in only its second season of fielding a girls' soccer team; and
Whereas, the Lady Lions' season record of 16-5 displays the greatest number of wins of any soccer team in the school's history; and
Whereas, the team added another top win to its roster of victories by carrying off the Hurricane Invitational Tournament championship; and
Whereas, the championship Lady Lions soccer team was comprised of Gabby Bedell, Shelbi Bottoms, Katelyn Gochnauer, Morgan Greenwood, Kiley Griseto, Genny Hamilton, Nakita Kappel, Emily Kurtz, Brittney Lambright, Hannah Moyer, Christen Rentz, Hannah Romano, Apryl Singleton, Lindsey Stewart, Tory Vanderbeck, and Caroline Waugh; and
Whereas, under the able leadership of Head Soccer Coach Terry Hughes and Assistant Coach Laura Little, the Lady Lions brought deserved accolades not only upon themselves but also upon the James Island community and Charleston County; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing the noteworthy achievements of such outstanding young people as the James Island Christian School's Lady Lions. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and congratulate the James Island Christian School Lady Lions soccer team for winning the 2006 SCISA A-AA State Soccer Championship title.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Head Soccer Coach Terry Hughes and the James Island Christian School Lady Lions soccer team.
