A JOINT RESOLUTION TO ADOPT REVISED CODE VOLUMES 9 AND 10 AND NEW VOLUME 9A OF THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, TO THE EXTENT OF THEIR CONTENTS, AS THE ONLY GENERAL PERMANENT STATUTORY LAW OF THE STATE AS OF JANUARY 1, 2007.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Revised Code volumes, authorization

SECTION    1.    (A)    Section 2-13-90 of the 1976 Code authorizes the Legislative Council and the Code Commissioner to contract to be prepared and published under their supervision and direction revised volumes of the Code of Laws when, in their judgment, the supplement of a volume becomes too bulky for convenient use.

(B)    The Legislative Council and the Code Commissioner have determined that the cumulative supplements to Volumes 9 and 10 have become too bulky for convenient use.

(C)    Section 2-13-90 of the 1976 Code also provides that the revised volumes must be submitted to the General Assembly for its consideration.

Revised Code volumes adopted, permanent statutory law

SECTION    2.    (A)    Revised Volume 9 containing Titles 21 to 24, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, is substituted for original Volume 9 which contained Titles 21 to 25.

(B)    Revised Volume 10 containing Titles 28 to 32, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, is substituted for original Volume 10 which contained Titles 26 to 32.

(C)    New Volume 9A containing Titles 25 to 27, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, is substituted for the portions of original Volume 9 which contained Title 25 and original Volume 10 which contained Titles 26 and 27.

(D)    Revised Volumes 9 and 10 and new Volume 9A are adopted as part of the Code of Laws and, to the extent of their contents, are the only general permanent statutory law of the State as of January 1, 2007.

Time effective

SECTION    3.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

Ratified the 22nd day of March, 2007.

Approved the 27th day of March, 2007.
