EXPRESSING THE DEEPEST SORROW OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE DEATH OF ROBERT WATSON COOPER, SR., COLUMBIA NATIVE, BUSINESSMAN, AND SPORTSMAN.
Whereas, Robert Watson Cooper, Sr., founder of Woodcreek Farms Nursery almost thirty years ago, died May 15, 2007; and
Whereas, the Columbia native was a graduate of Dreher High School and Presbyterian College; and
Whereas, Bobby, as he was known to his family and friends, was able to combine his love of nature and love of family in his work among his plants with two of his sons; and
Whereas, he is survived by his wife, Jean Thigpen Cooper, his sons William Butler Cooper, Robert Watson Cooper, Jr., and David Eugene Cooper, two grandchildren, a brother, and two sisters; and
Whereas, the House of Representatives is saddened to learn of the loss of this fine South Carolinian who so much loved this State's natural beauty. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express the deepest sorrow of the State of South Carolina upon the death of Robert Watson Cooper, Sr., Columbia native, businessman, and sportsman.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Robert Watson Cooper, Sr.
