VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE LANDRUM HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2007 CLASS A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.
Whereas, the Landrum High School baseball team defeated Bamberg-Ehrhardt 12-2 on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, to capture the 2007 Class A State Championship title; and
Whereas, Head Coach Travis Henson and his assistant coaches, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their baseball program into a championship team; and
Whereas, sailing through the playoffs with ease, the masterful Cardinals had only one of their post-season games go a full seven innings. The other seven ended early, due to the ten-run rule; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Cardinals and marks their third state championship in the past six years, their previous championship wins being in 2002 and 2005; and
Whereas, in a season of astonishing achievements, the team set triple school single-season records, with twenty-nine wins, three hundred sixty runs scored, and eighty-nine doubles hit, as well as racking up their forty-third consecutive region win; and
Whereas, the Cardinals have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the Landrum High School baseball team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2007 Class A State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the principal of Landrum High School, Susan Vasquez, and Head Coach Travis Henson.
