TO HONOR AND CONGRATULATE DANIEL MARK VINSON OF MARION COUNTY ON ACHIEVING THE ELITE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT, TO COMMEND HIM FOR HIS HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION IN ACHIEVING THIS GOAL, AND TO RECOGNIZE HIM FOR HIS SPECIAL TALENT AND DEDICATED EFFORTS IN REFURBISHING THE SOUTH CAROLINA TOBACCO MUSEUM.
Whereas, it is with great pride that the South Carolina House of Representatives recognizes Daniel Mark Vinson of Mullins, who attained the prestigious rank of Eagle Scout; and
Whereas, achieving the distinction of Eagle Scout is a tremendous honor that very few scouts attain and is recognized as one of the most impressive awards that a young man can earn; and
Whereas, born to his proud parents on September 22, 1989, Daniel is the son of Ms. Deane Vinson of North Myrtle Beach and of Dr. Mark and Julie Vinson of Mullins; and
Whereas, a member of Boy Scout Troop 748, Daniel has served his community as a boy scout since 1996. In addition to being active within the troop, demonstrating the principles of the Scout Oath and Law daily, and earning at least twenty-one merit badges, he has served in a leadership capacity, worked on service projects, and written an essay detailing ambitions and life goals; and
Whereas, committed to his community, Daniel chose to refinish and refurbish the South Carolina Tobacco Museum in Mullins, where he replaced railings, painted, pressure washed the exterior and applied water sealer, replenished flower boxes, and painted benches; and
Whereas, visitors to the South Carolina Tobacco Museum will certainly enjoy the fruits of his labor for years to come; and
Whereas, a role model to his peers, Daniel is also a volunteer for the American Heart Association; and
Whereas, graduating from Pee Dee Academy in 2007, he was a member of the Varsity Golf Team and the Biology Club and was also named Most Valuable Player for the golf team during his senior year; and
Whereas, Daniel is currently a freshman at the University of South Carolina, where he is a recipient of a full, four-year Army ROTC scholarship, Gamecock Brigade; and
Whereas, Daniel received the Eagle Scout award at a solemn ceremony of the Eagle Scout Court of Honor on December 16, 2007 at Macedonia United Methodist Church in Mullins; and
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly is pleased to have the opportunity to recognize the many talents, generosity, and caring spirit of such a remarkable young man and son of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, honor and congratulate Daniel Mark Vinson of Marion County on achieving the elite rank of Eagle Scout, to commend him for his hard work and determination in achieving this goal, and to recognize him for his special talent and dedicated efforts in refurbishing the South Carolina Tobacco Museum.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms. Deane Vinson and Dr. and Mrs. Mark Vinson.
