A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE E. SIMS FLOYD, JR., CERTIFIED ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE, OF COLUMBIA, UPON BEING CHOSEN THE 2007 ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE OF THE YEAR BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA SOCIETY OF ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVES.

Whereas, E. Sims Floyd, Jr., Certified Association Executive, of Columbia, has been selected as the 2007 Association Executive of the Year by the South Carolina Society of Association Executives (SCSAE), the top honor of his profession; and

Whereas, Mr. Floyd, of the South Carolina Automobile Dealers Association, has long exemplified dedication to the field of association management, as seen in his many leadership roles within the South Carolina Society of Association Executives. As a member of that organization, he has worked on, and chaired, numerous committees and has served on the board and in all officer positions, including SCSAE president. Further, he is one of a handful of association executives in South Carolina who have attained the prestigious Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation; and

Whereas, also within SCSAE, Mr. Floyd has done much to advance association management as a profession, particularly by lending his strong support to educational programs such as the Institute for Organization Management, as well as to the CAE designation. He was responsible for the establishment of the Association 101 educational series, providing the only training in the State to staff employed in the association-management field; and

Whereas, not one to neglect his civic duty, Sims Floyd is a role model for community involvement, unselfishly giving much time and energy to support causes of great importance to his community. In addition to involvement in many activities at Shandon United Methodist Church of Columbia, Mr. Floyd has served on the boards of a number of community-action agencies, including Sistercare, where he is currently president-elect, and Harvest Hope Food Bank; and

Whereas, his willingness to accept any assignment and his work ethic command respect from all who know him; and

Whereas, as a committed, professional, and outstanding executive, Sims Floyd has brought positive professional attention to himself and his calling at both the state and national levels. In recognition of his exceptional achievements, the General Assembly takes great pleasure in congratulating him on receiving this distinguished award. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate E. Sims Floyd, Jr., Certified Association Executive, of Columbia, upon being chosen the 2007 Association Executive of the Year by the South Carolina Society of Association Executives.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Sims Floyd.
