TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND MISS SOUTH CAROLINA 2007, CRYSTAL ALICIA GARRETT, OF RICHLAND COUNTY, FOR HER HARD WORK, DISCIPLINE, TALENT, AMBITION, AND HER EXCELLENT AMBASSADORSHIP FOR THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND HER HOME COUNTY.
Whereas, Crystal Alicia Garrett, of Richland County, was crowned Miss South Carolina 2007 and has been an excellent ambassador for the State of South Carolina during her reign; and
Whereas, the daughter of Daniel and April Garrett, Crystal is the second of a fine family of three girls, her sisters being Jasmine and Angel; and
Whereas, having both intelligence and beauty, she has been awarded vocal and academic scholarships by Columbia College and has been named to the Dean's List and National Scholars Honor Society. She is currently a senior at the University of South Carolina, majoring in music; and
Whereas, Crystal has a career as a professional vocal artist and performer in mind, and she gave evidence of the skill that will help her reach this goal when she captured the top talent award at the Miss South Carolina Competition; and
Whereas, on her way to the Miss South Carolina crown, she captured the Miss Charleston talent award and the Columbia Urban League's Talented Youth award, and she has devoted many hours to her own community-service organization, Preparing Empowered Asthmatic Kids or PEAK, as well as to Family Connection and the American Lung Association; and
Whereas, the South Carolina House of Representatives takes great pleasure in recognizing such an outstanding young woman and representative of the State of South Carolina as Crystal Alicia Garrett, and the members wish her well as she continues her reign. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend Miss South Carolina 2007, Crystal Alicia Garrett, of Richland County, for her hard work, discipline, talent, ambition, and her excellent ambassadorship for the State of South Carolina and her home county.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Crystal Alicia Garrett.
