A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE ADMINISTRATORS AND STAFF OF SHAREDCARE, INCORPORATED, IN HORRY COUNTY, FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP IN THE TREATMENT OF THE MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED, AND TO CONGRATULATE THEM FOR BEING NAMED THE RECIPIENT OF A 2008 JOHNSON AND JOHNSON CRYSTAL AWARD.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives express sincere appreciation to Sharedcare, Incorporated, for the vital medical services it offers to citizens of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Sharedcare provides health education, exercise, and access to health care services in order to prevent and control diabetes and cardiovascular disease among low-income, uninsured, and underinsured African Americans in the Cedar Branch community of Horry County; and

Whereas, since 2003, Sharedcare has been providing access to health care for citizens of Horry County who have a low income and are uninsured; and

Whereas, Sharedcare not only began offering fitness scholarships to increase exercise use among its participants, but also implemented a program for health education in urban churches within the community; and

Whereas, Johnson and Johnson awarded Sharedcare the Community Healthcare Award for the organization's work in addressing these medically underserved patients. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and commend the administrators and staff of Sharedcare, Incorporated, in Horry County, for their outstanding leadership in the treatment of the medically underserved, and congratulate them for being named the recipient of a 2008 Johnson and Johnson Crystal Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Sharedcare, Incorporated.
