A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR JACK M. LEDFORD, OF CHEROKEE COUNTY, FOR FIFTY-THREE YEARS OF SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY IN THE FIELD OF BANKING, AND UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT, TO WISH HIM SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives are grateful for the years of service that Jack M. Ledford has given to the citizens of South Carolina; and

Whereas, born in Central, South Carolina, Jack Ledford graduated in the top five percent of his class from Fairforest High School in Spartanburg, where he grew up and met Jo, his beloved wife. They married in 1958 and have one daughter; and

Whereas, in 1955, Jack Ledford joined the team of Citizens and Southern Bank in the mail room and progressed to positions from teller to manager, remaining there faithfully for thirty-two years; and

Whereas, while holding a full-time job, he attended night classes at Limestone College until he graduated with a bachelor's degree in finance and business administration. He has received further education from the American Institute of Banking; and

Whereas, he served First Union Bank of Gaffney as assistant vice-president and branch manager until he joined Palmetto Bank in 1996 as assistant vice-president and loan officer; and

Whereas, Jack Ledford has also served his community through thirty years in the Sertoma Club, was named Sertoman of the year in 1979, and won the coveted President's Award in 1985; and

Whereas, he was the past chairman of the Gaffney Branch of the Cherokee County Library and has served in the Boys & Girls Club; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives congratulate Jack M. Ledford on his much-deserved retirement and are pleased to learn that family, friends, co-workers, and the community plan to celebrate his fifty-three years in banking on April 30, 2008. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, recognize and honor Jack M. Ledford, of Cherokee County, for fifty-three years of service to his community in the field of banking, and upon the occasion of his retirement, wish him success and happiness in all his future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Jack M. Ledford.
