A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR SAMANTHA BROWN FOR INTRODUCING THE PUBLIC TO VACATION DESTINATIONS WORLDWIDE, AND TO COMMEND HER FOR PUBLISHING THE BEAUTIES AND ATTRACTIONS ALONG THE GRAND STRAND OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN THE UPCOMING PRODUCTION OF PASSPORT TO GREAT WEEKENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are grateful to learn that Samantha Brown, widely regarded as one of the most popular television personalities, will be filming in the Grand Strand May 1-4, 2008, for airing on Passport to Great Weekends on the Travel Channel; and

Whereas, Samantha Brown, who was born in Texas and grew up in New Hampshire, has served as a travel hostess for the Travel Channel since 1999 and introduces millions of viewers to vacation destinations each year; and

Whereas, as the nation's premier travel hostess, she has hosted several television series, including Girl Meets Hawaii and Great Hotels, where she featured Daufuskie Island Resort at Hilton Head; and

Whereas, along with David Dean, she has written for the television series Great Hotels and Passport to Europe and is the hostess of the programs, which have won two Daytime Emmy Awards, and currently she is writing and hosting Passport to Latin America; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly welcome Samantha Brown to the Palmetto State for the filming of Passport to Great Weekends and wish her many pleasurable memories of her visit to our fine State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, recognize and honor Samantha Brown for introducing the public to vacation destinations worldwide, and commend her for showcasing the beauties and attractions along the Grand Strand of South Carolina in the upcoming production of Passport to Great Weekends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Samantha Brown.
