VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE THE CONWAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM, OF HORRY COUNTY, FOR A SUCCESSFUL SEASON, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH FOR CAPTURING THIRD PLACE IN THE 2008 SOUTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS STATE TOURNAMENT.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina are pleased to learn that the Conway Christian School Lady Eagles basketball team had a successful season, winning their regional title and placing third in the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools State Tournament; and
Whereas, the Conway Christian School girls basketball team had a winning season with sixteen wins and only one loss to Northside Christian School in Charleston; and
Whereas, in the quarterfinal game, they defeated Calvary Christian School of Myrtle Beach to claim the 2008 Coastal Conference title of the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools; and
Whereas, in the first game of the finals, the Lady Eagles fell to Oconee Christian School of Seneca 48-39, yet in the consolation game, they decisively defeated their regular season rival Northside Christian School by 46-28 for third place in the conference; and
Whereas, senior Margaret Duncan and junior Megan Schlude shot double digits during the championship games, and along with senior Caroline Smith, they led the Lady Eagles in scoring; and
Whereas, Conway Christian School Coach Doug Rickert used his own athletic ability and experience to forge a winning basketball team through rigorous effort in long and demanding practices; and
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly commend Conway Christian School Lady Eagles for their winning season and look to hear of their future successes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize the Conway Christian School girls basketball team, of Horry County, for a successful season, and congratulate the players and their coach for capturing third place in the 2008 South Carolina Association of Christian Schools State Tournament.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal Connie Smith and Coach Doug Rickert.
