Whereas, to lose one's life is the ultimate sacrifice a soldier can give for the defense of his country; and
Whereas, these brave men have each distinguished themselves and their families through their courage, actions, and love of their country; and
Whereas, the valor of these fallen heroes will never be forgotten by all Americans who will honor and treasure their memory; and
Whereas, it is appropriate that each of these individuals receive the Palmetto Patriot Award for their sacrifice. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, honor the eleven men of the United States Armed Services from South Carolina or with South Carolina ties who died in the War in Iraq in 2006 and thank Lieutenant Governor André Bauer for his efforts in giving each the Palmetto Patriot Award.
