VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO EXPRESS THE GRATITUDE OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO MR. VINCE RHODES FOR HIS TWENTY-SIX YEARS OF CONTINUOUS SERVICE AS A MEMBER OF THE WIL LOU GRAY OPPORTUNITY SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES, AND TO WISH HIM MUCH SUCCESS AND FULFILLMENT IN ALL HIS FUTURE ENDEAVORS.
Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly notes with regret that after twenty-six uninterrupted years of dedicated service, Mr. Vince Rhodes is retiring from the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School Board of Trustees; and
Whereas, a native of Williamston, Mr. Rhodes is known for his commitment to the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School and its purpose; and
Whereas, in preparation for a life of service in both his vocation and his volunteer work, Vince Rhodes earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Erskine College and his Masters in Education at the University of South Carolina; and
Whereas, he served as Assistant to the Commissioner for the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Department for thirty-four years until his retirement in 1997; and
Whereas, his many other contributions to the State of South Carolina include service as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina State Credit Union since 1980, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South Carolina Credit Union League Board from 1998 to 2000 and member since 1993, Chairman of the Town of Springdale Planning Commission, and member of the Governor's State Work Force Investment Council Board of Directors; and
Whereas, in further giving of his time and resources, he has served as a member of the South Carolina Native American Council, CUNA Renaissance Commission, Southeastern Employment and Training Association, South Carolina School Board Association, and National Rehabilitation Association; and
Whereas, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the welfare of this great State, Mr. Rhodes was granted the Order of the Palmetto by Governor David Beasley and the Filene and Raaiffeisen awards by the Volunteer Achievement Program; and
Whereas, an active member of Platt Springs United Methodist Church, Vince Rhodes and his wife, Sue Helms Rhodes, are the proud parents of two children, Greg and Suzanne, and one grandchild, Ashley; and
Whereas, upon the occasion of his retirement from the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School Board of Trustees, the General Assembly, acknowledging the great debt of the State of South Carolina to this champion of quality education for the undereducated, is pleased to recognize and honor Mr. Vince Rhodes for his distinguished career of service as a board member. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express the gratitude of the South Carolina General Assembly to Mr. Vince Rhodes for his twenty-six years of continuous service as a member of the Wil Lou Gray Opportunity School Board of Trustees, and wish him much success and fulfillment in all his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Vince Rhodes.
