VERSIONS OF THIS BILL
TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND BISHOPVILLE'S LEE CENTRAL COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FOR ITS OUTSTANDING SEASON AND FOR CAPTURING THE 2007 CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE TEAM'S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND STAFF.
Whereas, the Lee Central Comprehensive High School boys basketball team defeated Southside 38-27 on Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the Colonial Center in Columbia, to capture the 2007 Class AA State Championship title; and
Whereas, Head Coach LaVerne Knox and his assistant coaches, Edward Franklin and Jabari Deas, with grueling practices, hard work, and determination, built their basketball program into a championship team; and
Whereas, this crowning victory caps an excellent season for the Stallions and marks their fourth trip to the finals and second straight state championship, a record that proves the team a perennial powerhouse to be reckoned with; and
Whereas, the members of this championship team are Emmanuel Williams, Vincent Frederick, Willie Rogers, Brince Knox, Darvy Thomas, Jermaine Wells, Robert Madison, Dominique Graham, Steven Scarborough, Michael Holmes, Terrance Smith, and Gary Holloman; and
Whereas, the Stallions have brought great pride and recognition to their school and community, and the members of the South Carolina Senate are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize such a wonderful group of young men. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, recognize and commend Bishopville's Lee Central Comprehensive High School boys basketball team for its outstanding season and for capturing the 2007 Class AA State Championship title, and honor the team's exceptional players, coaches, and staff. .
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the principal of Lee Central Comprehensive High School, Leevette E. Malloy, and Head Coach LaVerne Knox.
