A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE SPRING VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER TEAM ON ITS IMPRESSIVE WIN OF THE 2007 CLASS AAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS, HEAD COACH DAVE CLARK, AND ASSISTANT COACH JOHN POWELL ON AN OUTSTANDING SEASON.

Whereas, on May 14, 2007, the Spring Valley High School boys soccer team capped its 21-7 season by capturing the 2007 Class AAAA State Championship title, defeating a fine Northwestern team 3-2 in the finals, held at the University of South Carolina's Stone Stadium; and

Whereas, exhibiting teamwork, dedication, tenacity, and ability, Spring Valley achieved this sweet victory as its first state soccer championship; and

Whereas, under the able leadership of Head Coach Dave Clark, the Vikings brought deserved accolades not only upon themselves but also upon the Spring Valley community and Richland County; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly take great pleasure in recognizing the noteworthy achievements of such outstanding young men as those on the Spring Valley High School soccer team. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Spring Valley High School boys soccer team on its impressive win of the 2007 Class AAAA State Championship title, and honor the players, Head Coach Dave Clark, and Assistant Coach John Powell on an outstanding season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the principal of Spring Valley High School, Dr. Greg Owings, and Head Coach Dave Clark.
