CONGRATULATING EDWIN P. ROGERS, JR., ON HIS RETIREMENT AS MARION COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR AND THANKING HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO MARION COUNTY AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.
Whereas, Edwin P. Rogers, Jr., was born in Mullins, South Carolina on July 2, 1948; and
Whereas, Mr. Rogers graduated from Mullins High School in 1966, and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Clemson University in 1972; and
Whereas, Mr. Rogers is married to Elizabeth A. Rogers, and they have two sons, Edwin P. Rogers, III, and John Michael Rogers; and
Whereas, Mr. Rogers is a member of the Marion County Regional Hospital Board of Directors and represents Marion County on the NESA Board of Directors; and
Whereas, Mr. Rogers was employed by the Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments from 1972 to 1989, where he assisted local governments with administration, planning, and grants; and
Whereas, Mr. Rogers was employed by Marion County in 1989 as Planning and Development Director, where he assisted cities and counties by securing grants and recruiting seven industries to relocate in Marion County during a five-year period; and
Whereas, Mr. Rogers has served as Marion County Administrator since 1994, and during his tenure Marion County implemented an Enhanced 911 system with a Central dispatch and a 800 MHz radio system with complete county-wide coverage, and Mr. Rogers oversaw the construction of a County Law Enforcement Center.
Whereas, because of Mr. Roger's strong leadership skills and his cooperative spirit, the relationship between Marion County and the cities within the county have improved dramatically and he has spearheaded many regional cooperative efforts; and
Whereas, Mr. Edwin P. Rogers, Jr., is retiring as Marion County Administrator on July 31, 2007, to pursue other opportunities. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, do congratulate Edwin P. Rogers, Jr., on his retirement as Marion County Administrator, thank him for his many years of dedicated service to Marion County and the State of South Carolina, and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Edwin P. Rogers, Jr.
