The House assembled at 10:00 a.m.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by Rev. Charles E. Seastrunk, Jr., as follows:
Our thought for today is from Isaiah 59:16: "The Lord was appalled that there was no one to intervene."
Let us pray. O Lord of mercy and compassion, keep us from closing our eyes to the hurts and injustice around us. Give us strength and courage to intervene and work to right the injustices which surround us. Inspire us to listen to Your calling of help for those in need. We have been called to serve those in this State. May we do our duty with love and mercy. Look in favor upon our Nation, President, State, Governor, Speaker, this Honorable Assembly, and all who serve in these Halls of Government. Protect our defenders of freedom at home and abroad as they protect us. Hear our prayer, O God. Amen.
