The House assembled at 10:00 a.m.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by Rev. Charles E. Seastrunk, Jr., as follows:
Our thought for today is from 1 Kings 19:8: "Elijah went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mount of God."
Let us pray. Lord God, thank You for providing our earthly and spiritual food. As You provided an angelic emergency kit to Elijah, so continue to give us the strength, the courage, and the will to carry our responsibilities today. As Your people, You nourish us beyond any worldly measure. Grant us a restful and peaceful weekend and nourish and renew us for another week of service. Bless our Nation, President, State, Governor, Speaker, this Honorable Assembly, and all who serve in these Halls of Government. Protect our defenders of freedom at home and abroad as they protect us. Hear our prayer, O Lord. Amen.
After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
