Deliberations were opened with prayer by Rev. Charles E. Seastrunk, Jr., as follows:
Our thought for today is from Psalm 31:5: "Into your hand I commit my spirit; you have redeemed me."
Let us pray. God, we give our lives to Your care. Bring peace to the anxious and lonely with the comfort of Your presence. Thank You for Your loving and compassionate care which has sustained us through the days gone by. Grant us Your protection as we enter the weekend and nourish us physically, mentally, and spiritually for another week of service. Look in favor upon our Nation, President, State, Governor, Speaker, this Honorable Assembly, and all who serve in these Halls of Government. Protect our defenders of freedom at home and abroad as they protect us. Hear our prayer, O Lord. Amen.
After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
The following Bill was taken up, read the third time, and ordered returned to the Senate with amendments:
S. 950 (Word version) -- Senators Hutto and Matthews: A BILL TO AMEND SECTION 59-53-630, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE POWERS OF THE DENMARK TECHNICAL COLLEGE AREA COMMISSION, SO AS TO ALLOW THE COMMISSION TO ENTER INTO GROUND LEASE AGREEMENTS WITH PRIVATE ENTITIES UPON APPROVAL BY THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD.
