TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 37-1-115 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT AS OF JULY 1, 2009, MERCHANTS AND OTHER PERSONS HONORING A CREDIT CARD FOR THE PURCHASE OR LEASE OF GOODS OR SERVICES MUST NOT INCLUDE THE CONSUMER'S CREDIT CARD NUMBER ON THE PRINTED RECEIPT PROVIDED TO THE CONSUMER.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Part 1, Chapter 1, Title 37 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 37-1-115. As of July 1, 2009, merchants and other persons honoring a credit card for the purchase or lease of goods or services must not include the consumer's credit card number on the printed receipt provided to the consumer."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 2007.
