TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. ROSETTA DREHER SHIVERS, OF RICHLAND COUNTY, AND TO EXTEND THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Rosetta Dreher Shivers on October 23, 2007; and
Whereas, the youngest of seven children born to the late Sanders and Ellen Lybran Dreher, Rosetta Dreher was born on August 2, 1927, in Lexington County; and
Whereas, Rosetta Dreher received an education in the formal schools of Lexington County and then enjoyed a loving marriage to the late Cleveland Shivers; and
Whereas, until her health declined, her gentle and caring ministrations reached many young people as she faithfully worked with the Foster Grandparent Program; and
Whereas, further serving the community through her church, Zion Pilgrim Baptist, Mrs. Shivers served as a member of the Missionary Ministry; and
Whereas, she leaves one daughter, as well as seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a host of loving church members and dear friends, all of whom share the grief caused by her departure but rejoice that she is resting with the Lord; and
Whereas, Mrs. Shivers touched the lives of many in her community and beyond and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Rosetta Dreher Shivers, of Richland County, and to extend the deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the daughter of Mrs. Rosetta Dreher Shivers.
