A JOINT RESOLUTION

DIRECTING THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD TO SELL THE PORTION OF THE STATE FARMER'S MARKET PROPERTY IN RICHLAND COUNTY USED FOR LARGE WHOLESALE OPERATIONS TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND USE THE SALE PROCEEDS TO IMPROVE RETAIL AND SMALL WHOLESALE FACILITIES ON THE REMAINING PROPERTY OF THAT MARKET AND, WHERE APPROPRIATE, FOR THE ACQUISITION OF ADJOINING PROPERTY TO PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SPACE FOR RETAIL AND SMALL WHOLESALE FACILITIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the State Budget and Control Board is directed to sell to the University of South Carolina that portion of the property of the State Farmer's Market in Richland County used for large wholesale operations. The proceeds of the sale must be used exclusively to upgrade retail and small wholesale facilities on the remaining State Farmer's Market property and, where appropriate, to acquire adjoining property to provide additional space for retail and small wholesale facilities.

SECTION    2.    This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
